New to our menu this year, Block Party is a celebration of sunny days ahead. Designed to be enjoyed hot, iced, or cold brewed, it has a refreshing flavor profile perfect for spring and summer.
Design Story
It all started with conversations about what thoughts of summer in New York brought up for each of us. We thought of friends sitting on stoops, kids running through fire hydrant sprinklers, a bustling McCarren park, and the electric energy of the city's residents out and about soaking up the sun. We explored motifs from Coney Island to Rockaway to the ferry on the river but felt that the truest representation of New York summer was simply people finding R&R all around them.
You’ll see characters sitting on the long bench in front of partners, walking a pedestrian street, grilling in the park and commuting on bikes and skates. We hope anyone—especially residents of our HQ’s Williamsburg neighborhood, will find something they recognize from their summer in the wrap design!
Sourcing Block Party
Featuring relationship coffees from Colombia and Peru, this inaugural blend is a celebration of old friends and new beginnings:
Santa Bárbara Estate,Colombia
Santa Bárbara Estate comprises five individual farms (plus Pergamino, a dry milling and exporting operation) all managed by the Echavarría Family, our oldest producer relationship in Colombia. Thanks to favorable growing conditions, near-equatorial latitudes, and well-dispersed rainfall, their farms export excellent coffees practically year-round. Block Party features two distinct lots from their farms: a natural processed variedad Colombia and a fully washed chiroso.
Puente Solaya, Peru
This fully washed blend of red and yellow caturra is the combined work of 17 individual producers located in the Callayuc district of Cutervo Province. The region is well-known for its conservation efforts, and like much of Peru, coffee production is largely organic. We're excited to continue to develop our sourcing program in Peru in collaboration with our export partners for this coffee, Cultivar Coffees.
In recognition of Pride Month, we'll be donating $1 from each retail bag of Block Party sold in June to The Center—an organization located in the heart of the West Village, less than half a mile from our Charles Street café. Founded in 1983, they offer a wide spectrum of programs for the LGBTQ+ community across New York City and beyond.
