Lunar New Year (2025)

Lunar New Year is most prominently celebrated in China and throughout different regions across Asia. Wrapped in familiarity for those who celebrate, this holiday is centered around family and new beginnings, adorned with vast decorations, symbolic messaging, and a spread of traditional foods.

Celebrations for Lunar New Year (aka Spring Festival) begin with the new moon and end with the full moon, as determined by the lunar calendar, and typically fall between the end of January and the end of February. While different regions may follow different traditions and a different zodiac, the most widespread Lunar New Year celebrations feature a corresponding character from the Chinese Zodiac, as follows: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig.

While there is much more to Lunar New Year than the above descriptions and while each culture, family, and individual makes this holiday their own, we're grateful to be able to have a small part in this celebration and help share the stories and traditions of the cultures that make up our community. Learn more about Lunar New Year and dive deeper into celebration with more information from the Smithsonian's National Museum of Asian Art.

This smooth, nutty, lightly sweet beverage was crafted by our Director of Coffee, Cary. In drawing inspiration from some of his favorite childhood flavors, Cary designed a drink reminiscent of Tang Yuan (a black sesame filled sticky rice ball dessert) that he grew up eating in Queens. Exclusively available at Partners Coffee’s Long Island City cafe for a limited time, the Black Sesame Cold Brew Latte is the perfect way to kickstart the Year of the Snake.
