Coffee Specs

Elevate is a seasonally-evolving espresso project designed to help us identify and develop new supply chains in Latin America with a focus on sustainable production methods. Featuring a rotation of origins, it is intended to occupy a middle ground in flavor profile between Bedford and Flatiron. Currently Elevate features two community-grown lots from the north of Peru:

La Capilla

This lot comes from a group of smallholder producers in the district of Santo Domingo de la Capilla, Cutervo Province. Although Cutervo's economy is largely agricultural, coffee cultivation is relatively new there. Farms in the area are known for their adherence to environmentally responsible production methods. Most of the producers contributing to this lot tend farms smaller than two hectares and grow a mix of high quality varieties like red and yellow caturra, bourbon, pache, and typica, as well as some rust resistant catimor.

Namballe

North of Cutervo is San Ignacio Province, where the district of Namballe is located. The group of producers who contributed to this lot are all located along the Rio Blanco in the buffer zone of Taboconas Namballe National Sanctuary, a protected ecosystem. They grow a mix of varieties like caturra, pache, catimor, and Costa Rica 95, adhering to responsible environmental and conservation practices.

    Clean, crisp coffee

Really enjoying this blend from Partners. It’s an espresso blend, but I’ve actually been brewing it in my drip machine and it’s so delightful. Would definitely purchase again!

    Our go-to espresso bean

Partners has been our go-to for many years; enjoy a variety of the flavors but this is our favorite. We recently moved away from Williamsburg so I will say shipping takes a bit of time but as long as I plan ahead I don't miss my fix.

I was really looking forward to trying Partners Elevate, as I’ve heard great things about it. Took a little longer than expected to arrive, but came within a reasonable timeframe of ordering. I allowed the beans to rest for 8 days, and once opened the bag I could barely smell anything related to freshly roasted coffee beans. I played around with dialing in the grind several times, but no matter what I did the espresso was not good. I had two different friends of mine try it out to make sure it wasn’t just me, and they both agreed that it was the beans. I threw the bag away and sulked with disappointment. I had very high hopes for Partners Coffee Roasters and am now hesitant to purchase anything else from this brand. Perhaps I received a bad batch…
