Knowledge Guides

About Coffee

I really like the About Coffee website because it’s packed with helpful resources and information that often get overlooked. It covers a lot of great topics that go deeper than the basics, which makes it super useful for anyone wanting to learn more about coffee. This website has all the general information about coffee from brewing to sourcing. It’s what I recommend to people that are just getting into coffee as well as what I recommend to coffee professionals looking for a refresher. Plus, a lot of the content lines up with what we use in our trainings, so it’s a go-to reference for us. It’s just a great site for coffee lovers and professionals alike! (Cary W.)

World Coffee Research

While this is a more technical trade resource, it's good reading about the history and genetics of different common coffee varieties and cultivars. This resource is especially interesting for those who have just purchased a single varietal single origin coffee. (Sam K.)

Wikipedia

I try to read about the different countries and regions where we source coffee, especially if I'm purchasing from or traveling to somewhere for the first time. I try to come home with a playlist, too. While this is less of a "help you make better coffee" tip, I highly recommend cultivating a similar appetite for learning about the places you enjoy coffee from. (Sam K.)

Recipes Guides

Aeroprecipe

I really like Aeroprecipe because there's a lot of community contributions and other more notable recipes added from coffee professionals. This site is fun for those who like experimenting with coffee and it also has a "Feeling Lucky?" random recipe button, which is a great way to find a new recipe or brewing technique that you may not have thought to try before. (Drew B.)

World Aeropress Championship

Because Aeropress is such a versatile brewer, I love checking out past Aeropress champions’ recipes and having a go at it myself. (Cary W.)

Industry Experts

James Hoffmann

I really admire James Hoffmann for the way he talks about coffee. He’s super knowledgeable but makes everything easy to understand. His YouTube channel is one of my favorites because he breaks down brewing techniques, reviews gear, and does fun experiments that make me think about coffee in new ways. (Cary W.)

He’s authoritative. There’s few people whose knowledge I trust more. (Sam K.)

Cat & Cloud Podcast

I really like the Cat & Cloud Podcast because the hosts discuss so much more than just coffee. This podcast also focuses on business, leadership, and what it takes to build a great company culture. The conversations from the Cat & Cloud team are relatable and help provide new insight in various areas. (Cary W.)
